I have a question (or two) to ask those of you who received a set of the design tiles:
Did you know what to do with the tiles, or did you look for directions??
How can I make them better??
Thank you for your input and feedback . . .

3-3m-1m-1-4-4m-2m-2-2m. Directions? What are those? Half the fun is figuring out what to do with them! But hints are always welcome
ReplyDeleteI think you're hinting that you've gone from 4-patch blocks to 9-patch blocks . . . how do you like 'em??
ReplyDeletei looked for hints...then i went my own way. the small test ones are being made into coasters that my daughter has been begging for. she's happy and i'm learning be a little freer.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Paula . . . so you've gone from merely designing with the tiles to actual block construction?? . . . Very cool!!
ReplyDeleteI downloaded mine and was gong to get back to them tomorrow. I just (forgive me) assumed I could match up the numbers for one option and wing it for others. I'm not a big fan of directions so I really though little of the fact there were none. I just see it as something to tickle my imagination. It made me think of the 3-D puzzles I used to love as a teenager.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Royce . . . to paraphrase: "It ain't rocket science!!"
ReplyDeleteThe numbers are primarily for noting arrangements that appeal to you (especially with thousands of possible arrangements).
No one's come along and told me, "what a load of crap!!" but I'd like to hear something good before they do, LOL!! I'm just feeling anxious, wondering if people like 'em or not.
These tiles ROCK!! I'm thinking about even bigger "patches". Do you offer support groups for us addicts?
ReplyDeleteHi My name is greg and I'm a tile addict...
Greg, you're a charter member of T.A.A. (Tile Addicts Anonymous) . . . coming soon to a quilt guild near you!!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by bigger "patches"?? . . . Do you mean a shape from a larger block?? . . . Consider my "Mardi Gras Men" quilt (see July 27, 2009 post) . . . the quilt is made up of repeated 9-patch blocks.
WHOA!! Mardi Gras Men is made from these tiles???? Daughter will have to wait for her coasters while I try to figure out which tiles and what layout/rotation you used. Blatently and unremorsefully going to copy it. Just love the geometric look. Might do differrent colors tho...just to maintain the illusion that I didn't copy.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!
ReplyDeleteLemme put together some notes, take a few pics, and post it for ya . . . This was my third go-round with the design, but I cheated a bit and combined shapes (so I could cut one piece of fabric, instead of two or more of the same color).
Thank you, Paula . . . you've given me an idea for a wonderful post!!
